After nine years as a soldier life took a different turn when I married a Scottish girl, left the regiment and came to live in Scotland. It was during a visit to the Art Gallery in Edinburgh that my interest in art became rekindled. The work of Raeburn I found particularly inspirational. However, being part of a family business by this time meant that painting still had to take the back seat. Since taking early retirement there has been more time to devote to painting while continuing to develop the skills needed.
